Ode to the Nightstand.

I am somewhat obsessed with nightstands and lamps.  I get a different bed side table and lamp ALL the time.  On it, I have the usual items and some special ones- alarm clock (hello kitty), lamp, books, that morning or night drink, a water color of The Vatican (that I purchased on an Italian trip),  a piece of art from Ginny Speaks, and a first edition of Pillars of the Earth.  Sometimes, I get fresh flowers and make it look like a nightstand in a magazine.

Love this!!

It is interesting to me what people have on their bedside table, whether they have two that match and if it is practical or decorative.  I once went out with someone that had a bible with a pistol on top of it on his nightstand.  I did not know what that said about him but, it said Sleeping with the Enemy to me!

The handsome boy I am dating now, is very stylish.  His downtown abode is decorated with stylish leather furniture, black and white photography and dark wood- mostly antiques.  It says dude but a chick can be comfortable.  Which is why his nightstand was perplexing.....He has a BIG bullet lamp on it.  Nothing but the lamp and a remote.  I resisted the urge to say, "What's up with the big bullet?"  And then one day he pulled out a black and white photo and said, "This is my Grandfather making that bullet lamp that is in my bedroom."  So, what his nightstand says about him is that he is sentimental... so sweet!  I think I will talk him into a bigger lamp shade.  *In a John Wayne voice*...."If your gonna have a big bullet lamp, you might outta have a big shade."

I will be putting my tools away for a couple of weeks tomorrow and heading to the Pacific Northwest on Friday.  I will probably be so inspired my head just may blow off!!   To celebrate the ole bedside buddy....I am having a giveaway.  You can enter two ways.  Just scroll down to the bottom to the "sign up with email", sign up and then comment one thing that is on your bedside table.  You can also share this blog on your facebook page and comment the one thing you have.  I am giving away this 24x12 acrylic on wood heart painting.  It has a lyric from one of my favorite songs from the Pretenders.  To me. it represents unconditional love.  Tonight....it celebrates what stands by you at night!!

Even in your darkest hour, I'll stand by you

Below are some of my nightstand projects, along with my other projects for the week.  Off to some cooler weather!!!
